Frequently Asked Questions

Hire Period

Our standard scaffolding hire period for domestic properties is 4 weeks, unless otherwise specified. Most scaffolding companies begin charging additional fees after 2 weeks, but we offer this extended period to ensure you have ample time to complete your works.

What happens if we exceed the hire period?

While 4 weeks is typically sufficient for most projects, we understand that circumstances such as adverse weather can affect completion times. At DDC Scaffolding, we're happy to work with you should delays occur due to inclement weather (though we do draw the line at leaving it up for Christmas decorating!). Should you anticipate requiring an extension, please contact our office to discuss your situation. With our extensive industry experience and network of trusted tradespeople, we're well-positioned to offer guidance and solutions to help keep your project on track.

What's included in your quotation?

Our quotes are fully comprehensive, covering:

  • Scaffolding erection

  • Dismantling

  • Agreed hire period.

We pride ourselves on transparency - there are no hidden costs or unexpected charges.

Property Access

We fully understand the importance of maintaining access to your property. Our team ensures all doorways and windows remain unobstructed throughout the hire period. Our surveyor will specifically note any requirements for disabled access, ensuring these areas remain completely clear.

Property Protection

Property protection is paramount to our service. We employ comprehensive safeguarding measures, including:

  • Protective pads for driveways

  • Butting caps on tube ends where they meet walls

  • Careful consideration of your property's specific requirements You can rest assured that we treat every property with the utmost care and respect.

Payment Terms

Upon successful completion of the scaffold erection and your satisfaction with the installation, we will forward your invoice for settlement.

Scaffolding Removal

Please contact our office once you no longer require the scaffolding. While we operate on a maximum 10-day removal period, we typically complete dismantling well within this timeframe. To ensure minimal disruption, we appreciate advance notice of completion - ideally a week beforehand - allowing us to schedule removal more efficiently.

Modifications to Existing Scaffolding

We understand that project requirements can evolve. Should you need modifications - for instance, if you decide to add exterior decoration to your roofing works - simply inform us, and we'll adjust the scaffolding accordingly. Whilst this may incur additional costs, it's typically more economical than arranging new scaffolding. We're committed to finding practical solutions that work for you.

Staff Qualifications

Every member of our experienced team is certified CISRS qualified - from our labourers to our Advanced Scaffolders. We've handled projects of all sizes, from home extensions to million-pound developments.

Insurance Coverage

Your project's safety is paramount. We maintain £5 million public liability and £10 million employers' liability insurance.

What is a scaffolding compliance sheet and do I need one?

TG20:21 compliance sheets are primarily used in commercial scaffolding projects to demonstrate that structures meet industry best practice standards. While not typically required for domestic work, following TG20:21 guidance helps ensure scaffolding meets Work at Height Regulations 2005 requirements. Read our detailed guide to TG20:21 Scaffolding Compliance Sheets to learn more.

Garden and Plant Protection

We take immense pride in ensuring your garden remains undisturbed. Our professional team understands the care and attention you've invested in your outdoor spaces and treats them with appropriate respect.

Pricing Structure

Each project requires a bespoke quotation based on specific requirements. We conduct free on-site surveys to provide accurate pricing, as we believe telephone quotes often lead to unexpected charges and cannot account for individual property characteristics.

Lead Times

Our lead times vary according to current workload, though we typically aim for a 7-day turnaround. With 20 employees, we maintain efficient scheduling and can often accommodate emergency installations. We pride ourselves on honest communication regarding timing to help you coordinate with other trades effectively.
